This is your life: David Gulpilil - Peter Weir. In this short excerpt David Gulpilil is seen in the outback catching birds and then cooking them over an open fire, in the same way that his ancestors have always done. Gulpilil became a fixture of Australian cinema, appearing in Storm Boy, The Last Wave, and The Right Stuff, before crossing over in his role as Neville Bell in the Crocodile Dundee films. His last name, Gulpilil, was a totem, the kingfisher. The local missionaries gave him his birthdate of July 1, 1953, just as they gave him his Christian name David, although he admits he liked that name from the start. It's so humbling to know it reached so many people across the world, but even more special to know that a print found a home amongst the Gulpili family. Mini Bio (1) David Gulpilil is a legendary Yolngu actor, a First Nations person of Northern Australia, born around 1953. I then proceeded to put it onto social media and I was blown away about how many resonated with the work. The original of this sold before completion after a customer saw it in my Yeppoon Gallery.
